Doug Bennett started his racing career in the Grand National Sportsman
division at the Rockford Speedway in 1997. After racing for four years,
with
all final positions being in the
Top 10, Doug moved up to the Late
Model
division in 2001 racing at the Rockford
Speedway. He then
continued in
Late Models for three years racing Rockford Speedway
and
Madison
International Speedway. Doug has also raced at the Dells Motor
Speedway
in
Wisconsin Dells. Returning to Grand National Sportsman in
2004, Doug
claimed the title of
Mid-Season Champion and Sportsman of
the Year and
was voted Most Likely to Succeed
in 2005. With a slow start
in 2005,
having multiple DNFs due to various unforeseen mechanical
problems, at
mid-season Doug appeared to be a serious contender for a
top
season points
finish. Starting 2006, with a refabricated chassis, Doug
eagerly looks forward
to the upcoming season in the Grand National
Sportsman where it all began.
